With the rapid development of internet technology, information transmissionbecomes simpler and the globalization of economic has become an irreversible trend.Small to individuals and businesses, big to groups and organizations, informationtransmission between them is becoming easier. In this new situation, How to realize theindependent innovation have become the new problems that enterprises are facing andneed to be solved. Previously "behind closed doors" type of "closed innovation" hasapparently not kept pace with the new era, every large company who has strongtechnical strength is unlikely to have all the resources of independent innovation. So theenterprises need to build the external network with customers, government, banks,suppliers, and scientific research institutes to meet their needs. Relative to economiccapital and human capital, social capital is enterprise’s third largest capital; it can satisfythe above requirements. Therefore, this article selects it as the independent variable.After finishing summarize the relevant literature, this study constructed a model toclarify social capital’s influence on the innovation performance based on the theory ofopen innovation and the enterprise resource. In the model, corporate social capital is theindependent variable and the enterprise innovation performance is the dependentvariable. By drawing on previous research and combining the characteristics of openinnovation, the paper carried out on the variable dimensions and scale design. Next, weused the method of mail survey to collect data and SPSS17.0software for confirmatoryfactor analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis and hierarchical regressionanalysis to prove the assumption proposed.This study differs from previous studies of social capital that take into account thedevelopment of the times. Adding the open innovation background, social capital isdivided into two parts of internal and external. This paper not only analyzes the twoparts of their impact on the performance of open innovation, but also takes into accountthe interaction between the two. This study provides the corresponding revelation forthe enterprise in the management practice how to balance the internal and externalsocial capital investment in order to improve the innovation performance.
