Study On Disclosure Of Environmental Information In Chinese Coal Enterprises

One of the main sectors of environmental pollution is the coal industry, although coal is the pillar of energy in our country, the exploitation of coal has caused serious environmental damage, air quality deterioration, land subsidence and other environmental problems, the coal industry can be said to be the culprit, companies affiliated to the industry must bear the responsibility for the management of environmental pollution. Environmental information includes not only the non-monetary information, but also the monetary environment accounting information, but the research emphasis of the traditional accounting theory is the economic information of the enterprise, environmental accounting information is easily overlooked, but the environmental accounting information disclosure is the core of environmental, which serves as an important marketing tool will influence the decision of management personnel, forms criterion of the enterprise set up environmental protection consciousness image and enterprise competitive advantage. Therefore, this article selects coal companies listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange as the research object, through the analysis of the current situation of the environmental information disclosure, finding out the existing problems, and put forward the countermeasures to improve the environmental information disclosure of coal industry listed companies, which conducive to guide the company to better assumes social responsibility, to disclose the company's complete environmental information.This paper takes the coal industry environmental information disclosure as the research topic, base on the asymmetric information, sustainable development, social responsibility and stakeholder theory, and select the coal industry listed companies that were listed on Shanghai Stock Exchange as the samples for statistical analysis and comparative analysis of the environmental information disclosed by these companies, then make an in-depth research focus on the present status that disclosed. Moreover, the problems of land subsidence caused by coal industry and the disposal of solid waste utilization are also emphatically analyzed. The author through collecting and studying sample company's prospectus and 2012- 2014 annual corporate reports, social responsibility report, introducing the status of listed coal companies' environmental information disclosure, and based on which to find out the existing problems, including the environmental information disclosure is lack of unified standard, information disclosure content scattered, qualitative more while quantitative less, poor comparability of environmental information and the lack of independent third-party audit opinions and so on. Through the sample company data analysis and find that these problems are due to the lack of laws and regulations on the environmental information disclosure, corporations are not enthusiastic about environmental information disclosure, stakeholders need less environmental information and the audit requirements of environmental information is not strict and other key reasons. In addition, in view of these problems, the countermeasures and suggestions are put forward from the point of view of the government and the company, so as to promote the coal industry's understanding and disclosure about environmental information, and achieve the purpose of improving the environment.
