The Research On Evaluation And Improvement Of The Environmental Performance Huagang Company Based On Bio-efficiency

With the development of China's economy, the domestic environment experienced a rapid deterioration at the same time and caused many problems. As a result, environment problems increasingly aroused wide concern from both government and social public. Thus, it played an important part in the development of modern enterprise, especially heavy polluting industries, to improve their environmental performance. On one hand, understanding the environmental information of an enterprise may help managers make decisions scientifically and precisely; it also helped stakeholders to fully understand operation information and make scientific investment decisions. On the other hand, improving the environmental performance of an enterprise may also decrease capital cost and increase enterprise value, so as to providing a starting point for enterprises to develop sustainably. So exploring and researching the environmental performance in heavy polluting industry is of great importance for both enterprises and even the whole society.This thesis started from the research status of environmental performance fields, firstly introduced relevant theories and features on production and pollution of heavy polluting industries, especially the iron and steel industry. After that, the writer took H Steel Company, one of the three subsidiary companies of Hua Group—China's ten largest steel group, as research object and discussed its information disclosure methods and contents. It was found that Huagang Company should standardize the form and content of its environmental information disclosure, in order to help internal and external stakeholders fully understand operation information and improve the comparability and scientificity of enterprises'environmental information. Then, by applying the eco-efficiency index to evaluate the environmental information of Huagang Company and making comparison with Baosteel Group, the writer found that although the level of Huagang's environmental performance had improved steadily, yet the level is still not high enough. New Dupond Analysis was applied to further analyze two internal factors influencing environmental performance—financial factors and environment-driven factors. At last, this paper proposed schemes and measures for Huagang to improve its environmental performance from Huagang's production, operation and management, according to the above analysis. In the end, through the research on Huagang, the writer aims to set a reasonable evaluation system on environmental performance of enterprises, propose scientific, effective comments and suggestions on improving their environmental performance.
