Study On Lean Management For Enhancing Team Collaboration In IT Outsourcing Project

Competition is intensifying as the pace of globalization is accelerating. And this resulted in these advanced countries transfer these productive activities to those developing countries for low cost. IT development is one of them. Advanced countries outsources IT project to developing countries under the advanced internet technique. In recent 20 years, India companies are occupying most of these outsourcing IT projects from Europe and America by their advantage of language and Human Resources. With the development of IT market, the requirements of software functions change frequently to meet user's demands. And traditional India software development tools cannot meet this. In other way, the traditional project management cannot fit this kind of a various developing market. This is good to China as it is always wants involve into outsourcing markets at Europe and America. While, the first choice of these Europe and America companies for outsourcing services are still from India because of lacking communication, language and culture difference, so these companies are lack of trusty to Chinese companies and this result in low efficient when Chinese team involved into a America outsourcing project. The reason is because IT is a new industry in China, especially in project management, and we lack in IT engineers. On the other hand, it is harder to manage several distributed team through Internet.IT outsourcing is a knowledge-intensive industry when compare to others, the most important resource is human and the most important material is knowledge. So our main object is how to convert knowledge exactly into making correct products efficiently in cheap. This is why those big companies outsource their projects to developing countries. They need professional and cheap engineers for software development. While outsourcing project not like regular projects, they are not only distributed but also conflicts between teams, including culture, language and trusty. For low cost you must have an effective team, so you need to manage your distributed team members to make them cooperate effectively, to share resources, and to collocate tasks evenly. To reach this, we have many things to be done, the first one is that on-shore team will not trust offshore team normally, the second one is there's lack of communication between on shore and off shore teams. They are just working under project manager's commands. This is not a feature of a high effective team.This article comprehensively analyzes the feature of an outsourcing project, and also current state and remaining issues included, from principle and practice, including issues and impacts what faced during development. And it will have a discussion on these issues to find out suggestions and solutions for these issues by using Lean mode into these projects. After that it will try to conclude a solid and fit Lean based solution to be a compliment for our traditional project management tools. It should help to enhance team working efficiency in outsourcing projects.This article uses an iteration outsourcing project as a prototype to discuss low effective in work and communications between distributed teams, especially for communications that involves China team. From many scopes organization, iteration process, team communication and collaboration to practice these lean skills like Kanban and continuous improvement into an outsourcing project. Hope to conclude a new and useful association tool for outsourcing project management. After using this tool in a real project, it is proved to be strong pertinence and practical applicability in team collaboration. Hope it can give a reference to Chinese company.
