In the assurance of high quality, prompt delivery and low cost, manufacturing enterprises use the production mode of mass customization, through the reconstruction of product structure and manufacturing process, using modern information technology, new materials technology, flexible manufacturing technology etc. a series of high technology, to convert all or part of the customization products to mass production, to supply individual customer or small batch and multi-varieties market with any number of products with the cost and speed of mass production. However, how to improve the efficiency is still the core of enterprise management. The traditional learning curves assume a mass production environment where identical products are processed consecutively, but it is not suitable for the mass customization or small batch and multi-varieties production environment where different similar products are processed consecutively. Because traditional learning curves do not consider the effect of products similarity on learning effect, and ignore the transfer effect of learning effect, namely, production staffs can get production experience in the previous production of similar products to improve learning effect in the subsequent production of similar products. This phenomenon has been found in many areas, but there is little research in the field of manufacturing. This paper proposed a method which computed products similar degree with learning effect based on similarity system theory, and considered the transfer effect of learning effect, finally obtained a similarity learning curve through experimental analysis. The curve was introduced to the single machine scheduling problem, and a number example was provided.Firstly, the relationship between similar systems and similar products was analyzed, and the method computing products similarity starting from the purpose of the study based on similarity system theory was proposed. The reasonable characteristics of similarity elements were extracted and calculated, and products similar degree was calculated with AHP method.Secondly, traditional learning curves in the form of function were summarized and analyzed, and the transfer effect of learning effect was described. An experiment of similar products was designed from a products similarity perspective, in which the regression analysis of learning curves got a similarity learning curve by SPSS software. Finally, the similar learning curve was applied in a single machine scheduling problem which was solved by Max Min Ant System with minimizing the makespan as the goal and illustrating the effectiveness of the model with a numerical example.
