The Impact Of Import Producer Service On China’s Manufacturing Industries’ Production Efficiency

China’s manufacturing industries is in the process of transformation and upgrading.The production efficiency of manufacturing industries plays a important role in this process,especially with the ceding low-cost competitiveness and the ever increasing of the external competitive pressure.Contrasting with other import,producer services have a more direct and efficient technology spillover effect to the manufacturing industries.Based on the time series data on WIOD from 1995 to 2011,the paper divides imports of commercial services into producer services and non-producer services before further dividing producer services into traditional type,IT,finance-based type and other types,intending to examine their effect to the production efficiency of manufacturing industries respectively.In accordance with the empirical results,commercial services promote the production efficiency;one percent appreciation of the commercial services,the efficiency would increase by 0.46%.In addition,different commercial services have different effect,where producer services have made a significant active impact that 1% appreciation lead to the increase by 0.16% to the effect and the other have made a nonsignificant impact.The result manifests that the import of producer services have a character of knowledge-intensive and technology-intensive,which are involved directly in producing and improve the role of industry in the global value chain.By comparison,the other commercial services are involved indirectly in the producing,which need quite some time to influent the efficiency.The empirical result based on the different kinds of the producer services shows that Traditional type,IT,and finance-based type are significant positive drivers to the production efficiency,yet other services import being inconspicuous to such promotion.The driver of IT type is a little bit more than the finance-based type.Further research indicates that TLI of the producer services is one of the significant drivers to the production efficiency of manufacturing sectors,whose 1% appreciation would lead the efficiency to increase by 1.31%.
