With the development of seismic exploration technology, the requirement of accuracy is also increasing. Conventional 3D seismic is gradually unable to fulfill the geological tasks. Taking Sichuan basin Gongshanmiao area as an example, it is rich in oil and gas resource. In recent decades, several seismic acquisitions have been deployed here. The result from these works has supported the placement of more than 80 wells in this area. However, the reservoir is relatively thin and its formation is controlled by crack and pore. Conventional seismic can't completely solve the exploration and development problem. It has largely limited the E&D progress of Jurassic reservoir in middle Sichuan. Therefore, the research of new seismic technology is urgently needed to break the limitations and improve the describing capacity of fine structures. As a newest technology which can effectively improve the accuracy of seismic data, high-density 3D seismic has been applied in Gongshanmiao area.By investigating and analyzing the features and application of high-density seismic technology, this paper has obtained the following achievements:1. High-density seismic technology do not try to separate signal and noise during recording. Instead of that, it try to acquire full wave and undamaged data as much as possible.2. It possesses characters like single point receiver, single point source, small bin size and wide azimuth.3. Studied the implementation effect of targeted technologies applied in processing.4. Through theoretical study and comparison of actual data, demonstrated the advantages in accuracy improving and characterizing fine structures. It shows a good prospect for high-density seismic in Gongshanmiao area.5. After consideration of its application and technical features, rationalization proposals were made for the future application of high-density seismic technology.
