Myxogastria is important and special group of eukaryotes. The taxonomic position of Myxogastria in living nature was still controversy due to their life cycle which contain distinctly some features of both animal and fungus.Recently, they were phylogenetically included into one group of protozoa. However,Myxogastria belonged to fungi or protozoa were always the task which taxonomist discussed,Aimed to set up a taxonomic system inclining to nature. An investigation of species resource and diversity of myxomycetes in Huanglian Mountain National Natural Reserve of Yunnan Province was conducted in order to probe species diversity of myxomycetes in forest ecosystems of tropical areas of China.Student-Newman-Keuls analysis was used to compare different substrate types and different seasons on substrates collected in species diversity respectively,The results as follows:1.47 myxomycete species belonging to 16 genera of 8 families in 6 orders were obtained from moist chamber cultures prepared with ground substrate and bark substrate,1 species is referred to Ceratiomyxida,1 to Echinosteliida,4 to Liceida,14 to Trichiida,20 to Physarida and 7 to Stemonitida.Arcyria cinerea was the most abundant species with relative abundances of 18.07%.Didymiidae and Trichiidae were dominant families with 25 species in all accounting for 53.19%of the total species;Cribraria,Arcyria,Hemitrichia,Trichia,Physarum,Didymium,Diderma and Stemonitis were dominant genera, and totaled 38 species accounting for 80.84%of the total species.2.At the same time 45 and 38 species were harvested respectively from ground substrates and bark substrates.Species richness of myxomycetes on ground substrates was more abundant than bark substrates. There were no significant differences between 4.81 ±0.65 on ground substrates and 4.59± 0.03 on bark substrates with the species diversity index value, which indicated that myxomycetes in Huanglian Mountain Natural Reserve had no evident choices on substrate types. However, there were significant differences between 3.78 ± 0.05 in wet-season and 4.58 ± 0.02 in dry-season on substrates collected with the species diversity index value,we inferred that substrates collected in dry season yielded more myxomycete spores. The total myxomycete species diversity index value of 4.96 in Huanglian Mountain was higher than those reported from other tropical natural reserve in the world, thus rich myxomycetes resource occurred in forest ecosystems of tropical areas of China.
