The consumption of the copper resource is tremendous in our country, but its storage amount is relatively poorer. Reasonable usage on the regeneration of the copper resource can relieve the short supply of the copper resource availably in our country. High quality recycling about the scrap copper is the development direction of the regeneration of the copper resource, and in order to achieve it, the material separation of the scrap copper is a difficult problem first to be solved. Studying on the technology of the eddy current separation about the scrap copper, this paper has important theoretical significance and application value.This paper uses Ansoft Maxwell, the electromagnetic field analysis software, to make the model and simulation about the no-load static magnetic field and load transient magnetic field of the eddy current separation. On the given conditions of the magnetic roller rotational speed and the feeding speed, for red copper and bronze, through the respective comparison and analysis on the different distributions of the magnetic induction line and the magnetic flux density, and study on the force condition of the scrap copper particle in alternating magnetic field, the curve graph of the electromagnetic repulsion about the red copper and the bronze are obtained ultimately.Because of the commonness in the actual eddy current separation process, this paper selects the spherical, cylindrical and quadrilateral copper particles in the alternating magnetic field to analyze and calculate the electromagnetic repulsion. At the same time, the whole movement of the scrap copper particle in the eddy current separation process is studied and the separation distance values are calculated. On the conditions of different magnetic roller rotational speed and feeding speed, multiple parameters about the eddy current separation can be achieved, and through the comparison and analysis, the parameter values of the preferable separation effect are obtained. At last, the initial improvement of the eddy current separator about the scrap copper is designed.
