Comparing with the traditional cutting technology, the ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting technology has some advantages during the cutting such as the smaller cutting forces, reducing the cutting-tool abrasion and increasing the cutting tool's life, so it is widely used to cutting some difficult-to-machine materials like titanium alloy and ceramics. The elliptical vibration cutting technology grows fast and has been applied in the actual production abroad. But, this technology is still in the primary stage, so in order to play its important role also need to constantly explore and practice.Firstly, the characteristics of the ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting is analyzed adopting the analytic method, and the ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting process is simulated by the finite element method, then some research about the ultrasonic elliptical vibration transducer is studied. The main research contents and conclusions are as follows:1) The basic theory of ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting, the establishment of the ultrasonic elliptical trajectory equations and simulate different trajectory equation of ratio and phase conditions using MATLAB software. For a reasonable choice of cutting parameters has a good reference.2) Edge radius has an important influence on the ultrasonic elliptical vibration, using the software AdvantEdge to analysis. For a reasonable choice of tool edges radius has a good reference.3) Based on the tradition machining burr formation, the paper studies the cutting direction burr formation of elliptical vibration cutting, and analyzes the different vibration parameters and tool parameters on the size of the burr.4) Using a new patch double curved ultrasonic elliptical vibration transducer, And make modal analysis and transient kinetic analysis using the software analysis. The transducer can be externally generated excitation signal response under the elliptical motion.Through the study in this paper, we can conclude that the edge radius has important effect on the quality of the ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting. Meanwhile, comparing with the traditional cutting technology, the ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting technology can effectively reduce the burr thickness and height in the cutting direction, so that the ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting technology has a strong advantage in cutting machining.
