The west to east pipeline project of a large scale natural gas pipeline was constructed in China for transportation of natural gas. To ensure smooth functioning of the gas pipeline it is important to control the unstable flow by simulation research. Since this is a large scale natural gas pipeline therefore the calculation used in traditional pipeline model is slow and it delays the simulation speed. The operators are unable to make the right decision using software thereby resulting in collapsing of pipe and leakage of air. This results in a huge economic loss.In order to speed up the running of natural gas simulation system, first of all, the existing pipeline steady state and dynamic simulation model should be studied in depth. To find a solution to this problem this paper expounds the different characteristics of different simulation models, their analyses, advantages and disadvantages.Parallel computing is applied to the calculation of pipe so that the simulation system can quickly respond to the change of pipeline network in real time. The simulation dynamic model of natural gas pipeline is improved in order to make the dynamic model of the existing natural gas pipeline useful for parallel computing of the pipeline. First, distribution of gas is improved by dividing the natural gas pipeline network into different stages is as a foundation for parallel pipeline computing. This allocation method than the current method for tree pipe flow allocation is more reasonable as the current methods only consider the question of single parameter. Whereas Pipe diameter, length, node demand, parameters should also be comprehensively considered for computing. Next, the dynamic simulation model of the pipes is improved so as to make independent calculation for unstable flow in each pipe. Through these two steps of improvement the whole pipeline network can realize the improvement of the parallel computing.Finally, the Matlab software is used to analyze the simulation model. And the results obtained with the existing simulation model and the West-East gas pipeline in real measurement data were compared.
