Antimony exists mainly as Sb(?)and Sb(?)in the environment. Its oxidation states have significant effect on its toxicity and bioavailability. Many active substances were created from the catalytic oxidation of ferrous by oxygen, light,or microorganism. These substances may oxidize Sb(?)to Sb(?)to reduce its toxicity in the environment. Therefore, this study is to isolate the iron oxidizing bacteria from the antimony polluted soil. The co-oxidation of Sb(?)by the ferrous oxidation mediated by oxygen and iron oxidizing bacteria was investigated in the experimental condition. On the basis, the effect of rice biochar in different temperature property on the above co-oxidation effectiveness was also investigated. The results of this study was shown as follows:(1)The isolation of iron oxidizing bacteria from the antimony polluted soilThe iron oxidizing bacteria was successfully isolated from the antimony polluted soil by using the gel-stabilized gradient method and the Wolfe's Mineral Medium.(2)The effect of biochar on the co-oxidation of Sb(?)during the oxidation of ferrous by oxygenThe oxidation of ferrous can be improved by the addition of biochar,as follows: compared with the control, the ferrous contents in 0.25g/L and 0.5g/L of 300 BC,500BC and 700 BC additive experimental conditions were reduced by 24.9 and 42.2%,15.3 and 29.5%,and 74.8 and 80.6%,respectively.The more ferrous was oxidized, the more active substance were produced, and the oxidation of Sb(?)was improved,as follows: compared with the control, the Sb(?)contents in 0.25g/L and 0.5g/L of 300 BC,500BC and 700 BC additive experimental conditions were reduced by 25.0 and 31.5%,11.8 and18.3%,and 51.3 and 59.2%,respectively.Therefore,the co-oxidation of Sb(?)during the oxidation of Fe(?)by oxygen was improved by the addition of biochar, which was influenced by its property and additive content. This influence showed the tendency of 700BC>300BC>500BC at addition contents of 0.25 g/L and 0.5 g/L,and of 0.5g/L>0.25g/L at addition conditions of 300 BC,500BC and 700 BC,respectively.(3)The effect of biochar on the co-oxidation of Sb(?)during the oxidation of ferrous by iron oxidizing bacteriaIn fresh MWMM and the react time of 5 days, the Sb(?)content was reduced by 21.1%,12.1% and 15.9%,respectively,compared with the control. Therefore, the co-oxidation of Sb(?)during the oxidation of Fe(?)by iron-oxidizing bacteria was improved by the the addition of biochar, which was influenced by its property. This influence showed the tendency of 300BC>700BC>500BC.This study provides the theory foundation for the technique in remediation of heavy metal polluted soils by the biochar-microorganism cooperation.
