As a new class of macrocyclic hosts, cucurbit[n]urils(Q[n]s)has play an important role in supramolecular chemistry. The carbonyl oxygen atoms rimed hydrophilic portals and the rigid hydrophobic cavity, make them have attracted much attention in supramolecular chemistry because of their superior molecular recognition properties in aqueous media.By the end of December 2015,the research proportion of the synthesis,host-guest chemistry, and the coordination chemistry of the cucurbit[n]urils were about 5%,74%,and 20%,respectively.A recent study revealed that weak noncovalent interactions such as hydrogen bonding and ?···? stacking,as well as C-H···? and ion-dipole interactions, could also be defined as “outer-surface interactions”,which are derived from the electrostatically positive outer surface of Q[n]s.These interactions could be the driving forces in the formation of various novel Q[n]-based supramolecular architectures. Our interest in this thesis is mainly focused on the supramolecular interactions between the ternary system of the cucurbit[n]urils, organic molecules, and metal cations, and their supramolecular self-assembly.Including: 1)the effect of transition metal complex derived anions on the interaction of Q[n]s with organic molecules and their supramolecular self-assembly,which can be simplified as the host-guest based coordination chemistry;2)the effect of organic molecules on the interaction of Q[n]s and metal cations and their supramolecular self-assembly,which can be called as the coordination based host-guest chemistry.Studies including: 1)effects of dibutylamine guest on the Q[6]-[CdCl4]2-anionic bsed supramolecular self-assembly;2)effect of[CdCl4]2-anion on the Q[6]-diamine based supramolecular self-assembly;3)effect of[CoCl4]2-anion on the Q[8] –monoamine based supramolecular self-assembly.Studies on the outer-surface interaction of Q[n]s could establish a new branch in Q[n] chemistry,namely,Q[n]-based outer-surface interaction chemistry. In this thesis,a series of supramolecular self-assembly based on the outer-surface interaction has been successfully constructed, and some structures have been used in theadsorption of VOCs.This study is not only help to extend the application of the outer-surface interaction of Q[n]s,but is also help to provide a design strategy for some novel molecular devices.
