Yttria-stabilized zirconia has been widely used as dental restorations because of its superior mechanical properties.Besides,our oral cavity is a very complex environment that contacted with the outside.Food particles in our daily diet residue on the oral cavity can provide nutrition for the bacteria growth,resulting in the damage and destruction of the tooth organization.So,the study researched the preparation and antimicrobial properties of fluoride doped zirconia and zinc doped zirconia.And the influence of different parameters on the properties of F/Zn doped zirconia were investigated,then the tetragonal nano size zirconia with an excellent antimicrobial properties were prepared.Herein,we synthesized the F-ZrO2 with the different fluorine percentages by hydrothermal method.XRD result shown that tetragonal zirconia was obviously inhibited by the fluorine doping.In order to obtain stable tetragonal phase,an alternative strategy was to use glycerol as a stabilizing agent during the fabrication of F-ZrO2.The dispersity of the particles were highly improved by using the ethyl alcohol as solvent.The in vitro tests demonstrated that the F-ZrO2 exhibited excellent cytocompatibility and none-toxicity to human gingival fibroblasts?HGF?.Moreover,the F-ZrO2 possessed excellent antibacterial activity against E.coli,S.mutans and P.gingivalis when compared with the pure zirconia,which could effectively inhibit bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation.zinc doped zirconia was prepared by chemical precipitation method.The XRD result shows a little diffraction peak shift to the right with the increase of zinc doping,indicating a shrink of the lattice.That is because of zinc atom whose radius is smaller than zirconium atom replaced the location of zirconium atom.And the result of antibacterial experiment suggest that the Zn-ZrO2 has a better antimicrobial properties against E.coli and S.aureus.In summary,fluorine and zinc were doped in the process of zirconia syntheses by different method.Dose it entitled the zirconia a good antibacterial activity.Progress in this work promotes the application of dental restoration and reduced the rate of repair failure.
