The off-sea aquaculture net cage feeding system provided its work in the open sea area. Where there is nobody and no land, only the wind and the wave with its company. The feeder roll and pitch and yaw randomly with the wave affection. Sometimes it will overturned by strong wave or destroyed by fierce surge. So it's a necessary job to design a structural stable, full-automated feeder.This paper analyzed the net cage feeder's working environment, summarized the existing wave theory, so that to find a way to evaluate the wave pressure loaded on the feeder. Firstly, paper has built the 3-dof motion model of the feeder under wave conditions. Then combined talked wave theories with this motion model:-added incident potential with diffraction potential and radiation potential; solved the differential equation of the potential function; computed the curve relationship between the wave pressure and the wave number-to evaluate the engineering wave pressure value.This paper also proposed a design theory about the off-sea aquaculture net cage feeder. This theory introduced wave pressure into the feeder's structural design and helped to check the mechanical structure's stability and reliability.This paper built the feeder's conceptual model of 1:20 at last, and on this basis built the 1:1 prototype. Experiment results shows the prototype has good sea-keeping ability, which confirms the advantage of this.design method.
