Cucumbers and strawberries,as main crops in facility agriculture, are widely cultivated throughout the country. Many pests occur on these cucumbers and strawberries crops, among which the two-spotted spider mite is the key common target for prevention and control. It is an important arthropod pest belonging to spider class in agriculture and forestry, and it is also typical "small problems" trigger "great hidden dangers." At the same time, according environmental protection research has become increasingly necessary. In this study,two-spotted spider mite was used as the research objective:through observing its occurrence dynamics on cucumber and strawberry leaves and analyzing effects of “light hour + watering style” on the pest population and host plant, influences of some potential control measures were explored. In this experiment,it was found that occurrence of the two-spotted spider mites and overall dynamics of the population were similar on both crops;the amount of eggs laid was larger, the hatching rate was higher, and the survival rate of the females was higher in the control. The possible reason for this was assumed to be relatively larger body size of female mite which meaning larger body could reserve more energy and support longer suspended animation behavior and enhance its survival compared by male mite.In addition, when controlling the "light and water",the survival rate of each stage of two-spotted spider mite was proved to be affected by light and humidity.Studies showed that in longer light hour treatments, occurrence of this pest would be more serious;in lower-humidity treatments, this pest would also easily outbreak. Our conclusion is that the two-spotted spider mite is suitable to live in a long light time and low-humidity environment. Moreover,it is necessary to take into account the corresponding physiological changes of the host plants while evaluating entire efficiency of control measure.
