As a world famous composer of the Soviet Union in twentieth Century, Dmitri Shostakovich left us a large number of works and variety, but only two opera works remained. Shostakovich 's opera is concentrated in the early period of exploration and innovation, and forced to stop because of political pressure. As Shostakovich's first opera remained to the world, Nose retains and shows completely his music aesthetic attitude and aesthetic preference at that time. Moreover, it reproduces and carries the absurd scene of non-rational society of Gogol's original work by music. Absurd has been rarely involved in the research of music aesthetics, although it was an important aesthetic category. After a brief review of the development and change tendency of western opera in twentieth Century, it is believed that "irrational" is the main background of opera creation. By the research on the definition of "absurd" and development of absurd drama, it is believed that the popularity of non-rationalism was the premise to the appearance of absurdity. In Nose, the planarity of opera climax, music style and music value modeled the absurd aesthetic pattern of this opera. Under the cover of absurdity is the coexistence of human tragedy and carnival spirit, while these two facts are the implication of absurdity.
