The palace maids management system was an important part of the court management system in Tang Dynasty. In a narrower sense, this article will define palace maids as sovereigns, servant-maids. The sources of Tang Dynasty palace maids were variety, mainly divides into four categories. Firstly, they came from officials slaves. This category included female criminals and contribution. These female were confiscated census register. Because their beautiful, intelligence, skills, family background, they were selected and sent to the Yeting. Secondly, some palace maid were from good families which had no criminals and businessmen. Thirdly, some palace maids were saved from previous dynasty. The definition of the previous dynasty could divide into two part. In the one hand, it means the former dynasty 'palace maids, in the other hand, it means the previous Emperor's palace maids. Fourthly, other sources. Sometimes, women who famous for appearance or virtuous might be chosen into royal court. Besides, some Imperial concubines, Princess might be punished to be slaves.The royal court set a detailed management system for the palace maids. It related to residences, education and training, food and clothing, actions and speech, manners, medical and funeral. The management of the palace maids'residence were differences. The general palace maids'residences were managed by the Yeting bureau, lady officials'residences were managed by the Shang Gong bureau. Some palace maids'residences were managed by Sigui. Because they belonged to the prince.The royal court set the specialized agencies and officials to teach the palace maids calligraphy, the palace art, etiquette etc.. Food and clothing were managed by the court and the Ministry. The Tang Dynasty palace set up strict law regulations to limit their demeanor. In addition, the Imperial Medical Academy, Xi official bureau. Zhu Ling Tai and female doctors were all responsible for the palace maids'medical funeral.The palace maids'daily management work could be seen in many royal court institutions. The main royal court institutions were the Palace Administration and the Interior Province. These women were organizers and participant in the grand ceremonies. Because of the special status, the)'were more likely to become a victim of politics. Shangguan was one of the most important representatives in Tang Dynasty.To study the management system of the Tang Dynasty royal court from the point of the palace maids, and to study the palace maids from the point of the system. The royal court not only constrained and managed the palace maids, but also actively used these people's wisdom and labor. The palace maids were not only the object of management, but also subject management. They not only promoted the royal court life to normal operate, but also enriched the court culture, social customs. But their actual social status were low. They stayed in the deep palace, lost personal freedom, and were limited by a series of regulations and laws. So, it was very difficult to control their own destiny. We should to show mercy to them. This system relied on imperial power, strict laws and regulations. It also based on the exploitation and oppression of female's freedom and human nature. What's more, it was an important guarantee for the Tang's court order. It was changing with the rise and fall of feudal dynasty. At the same time, it also affected the change of the royal court and politics.
