With the continuous development of technology, electronic music has gone through concrete music, tape music, electro-acoustic music period, developed into the main period of computer music and interactive new media music. Electronic music is no longer the one-way mode that use prefabricated sound sample, passing through the speaker and send to the audience, but uses actual musical sound, video images, dance and other new media element, converging to produce a wide range of integrated arts; Creators are no longer just write music on the scores or edit the audio material, but to beginning of design and programming the interactive systems which could combined with a variety of new elements. Using the sensor as an interactive electronic musical instruments, it provides artists unlimited creative possibilities.In this paper, based on exploring the use of an infrared sensor as an interactive electronic musical instrument in the new media interactive electronic music works.This paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter begins a brief analysis about the development of electronic music and the features of new media art, introduction the graphical programming platform: Max.The second chapter combined with understanding of the definition of the interactive electronic music, with "interactive objects" and " interactive implementation principle" of different was classified the interactive electronic music. Finally, by analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of a variety of data formats and different interactive sensor on other, it describes the infrared interactive electronic musical instruments in an important position in the interactive electronic musical instruments.The third chapter is the focus of this article; respectively analyzed the three interactive electronic music works that use infrared interactive electronic musical instruments that created by the author himself. Including a detailed analysis of the terms of works brief introduction,, creative background, design and programming of interactive systems and the techniques and structures.In the final conclusion part of this article, it summarizes the programming and design principles,the problems and future development trend of using the infrared interactive electronic musical instruments in interactive electronic music creation.
