With the remarkable development of multimedia and computer technology,the dominant role of nonverbal symbols system of visual images,sound and action becomes more and more obvious in daily communication and information dissemination.As the advertisement of movies,movie poster is the main form of expression in promotions,as well as the form of visual communication design familiar to all.Movie poster,different from plain text discourse,includes words and images with many colors.In the field of linguistics,multimodality contains many modal symbols in various communicative situations.This new approach to the analysis of language enriches the traditional language expression and social communication to some extent.This article selects movie poster as the research object,and studies the interactional meaning in movie poster through multimodal discourse analysis.Through case studies of the tragedy posters in TITANIC and in the mood for love,and the comedy posters in Lost on Journey and Lost in Thailand,the author hopes to help people to improve the multimodal discourse literacy in movie posters and provides a more comprehensive perspective in movie posters appreciation.
