A Study Of Chinese Modern Tragedy In The Context Of Literary Transformation

Chinese tragedy concept,from its first introduction to the vigorous development,has integrated all kinds of ancient and modern tragedy concepts all over the world and became a unique tragedy concept full of its own national and epochal characteristics.This thesis targets on modern Chinese tragedies during the period of literature transformation,combines the study of tragedy concept and tragic analyses to.explore the emergence and development of modern Chinese tragedy concept in the special context during that era.By systematically investigating modern Chinese tragedy from three aspects including the view of character,the view of conflict and the view of ending,this thesis interprets modern Chinese tragedy concept in the context of literature transformation.This thesis is composed of three parts:introduction,main content and conclusion.The introduction part describes the current situation of research on modern Chinese tragedy,selection of the thesis topic and innovations in this thesis.The main content of this thesis contains four chapters as described below:The first chapter explores the emergence of modern Chinese tragedy concept,mainly from the context of its emergence and its overall characteristics.On the one hand,the introduction of tragedy is explained as a category of aesthetic in the atmosphere of western learning,focusing on the influence of literature revolution,literary thought,’human’discovery,sentimental atmosphere on modern tragedy and its creation during the period of literature transformation;On the other hand,effort has been made to grasp the general characteristics of the modern Chinese concept of tragedy,which is the common tendencies in highlighting the tragic spirit of the subject when discussing tragedies.The second chapter discusses the view of characters in modern Chinese tragedy concepts.Tragic characters are mainly divided into heroes and ordinary people.This work focuses on discussing tragic heroes of the extraordinary and tragic ordinary characters of the ordinary,with detailed analyses on the identity,personality,behavior,spirit and other aspects.The third chapter discusses the view of conflict in modern Chinese tragedy concepts.The tragedy is usually divided into the tragic tragedy and the almost tragic tragedy based on the view of conflict.On top of that,this thesis analyzes the modern tragic conflict concept from the aspects of the source of the conflict,the form of the conflict and the way of ending the conflict,etc.The fourth chapter discusses the view of ending in Chinese modern tragedy concepts.The view of ending in the modern Chinese tragedy concepts generally divides the tragic endings into two categories:`happy ending for a tragic beginning’and "tragic ending for a tragic beginning’.Particularly noteworthy is that many Chinese modern scholars have proposed to break through the tradition of Chinese classical tragedy,which usually ends with a ’reunion’.The conclusion part focuses on the contemporary value of the struggle and transcendence in the tragedies,and provides some thoughts on the development of current Chinese tragedy.
