The Interpretation Strategy Of Culturally Loaded Words From The Perspective Of Functional Equivalence Theory

From the perspective of the functional equivalence theory,the writer studies premier Li Keqiang's talk in the 2014-2016's press conference and analyzes the culture-loaded words.As we all know,the culture-loaded words is deeply rooted in a nation's culture,and it contains a nation's unique characteristics.But due to the difference in geopolitical position,social relationship,history,religion and other aspects,sometimes the interpreter can't find the corresponding words in target language when they interpret the culture-loaded words,so it brings a lot of troubles to the interpreter.Based on this point,through using Nida's functional equivalence theory,the writer combines the culture-loaded words' s characteristics to summarizes the interpretation difficulties.In addition,after study a large number of examples,the writer finds out the corresponding strategies for the culture-loaded words,namely,the method of literal interpretation and free interpretation for idioms and allusions,the method of literal interpretation,free interpretation,literal and adding interpretation,and substitution for colloquial words,the method of literal and adding interpretation and free interpretation for the words with characteristics.This paper will provide interpreter some enlightenment in culture-loaded words processing of the press conference in the future.
