This study investigated the differences between non-language major learners(NLML)and English-major learners(EML)in the choice of LLS in English reading.A modified LLS' questionnaire based on Strategy Inventory for Language Learning(SILL)of both Oxford(1990)and Wen Qiufang and two reading comprehension tests quoted from College English Test-Band-4(CET-4)and Test for English Majors-Band-4(TEM-4)respectively were applied in order to explore the questions aroused.50 English majors and 100 non-language majors in the second-year of TJPU participated in this research. The data collected from these experiments were examined through the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences(SPSS 17.0)Analysis like descriptive statistics,Pearson product-moment correlation,T-test for independent samples have been adopted and processed. The result shows the differences among the two groups of participants in the implementation of LLS concerning their reading. The findings yield up a comparative study between English major students and non-language major students on the use of LLS in reading, showing that reading proficiency levels are positively correlated with their LLS in both two groups.Besides, two groups do have significant difference on the use of different strategies.
