A Comparative Study Of The Analects Of Confucius And Mencius Based On Co-word Analysis

Analects of Confucius and Mencius are the core works of Confucianism in China,the literary value and historical significance of which both play an extremely important role in the present society.In the academic circles,they are mostly researched by scholars from the perspectives of history,philosophy,literature and education,etc.by virtue of the methods such as documentary method and comparative analysis approach,etc.Co-word analysis is an analysis method which conducts statistical analysis on the key words that reflect the subject content of the literature so as to study the internal relations and scientific structure of the literature.It is an important method of bibliometrics and even library and information science,which is mainly used to study the library science,philology,technological management,linguistics and other fields in the academic circles,while it is rarely adopted in the research on classical document.This paper,by way of the method of co-word analysis,carries on a text content statistics on Analects of Confucius and Mencius these two Confucian classics,and on this basis,it also conducts a thought analysis.Analects of Confucius and Mencius are both the Confucian Classics,the former of which focuses on "rite","humaneness" and "moderation" in the thought and integrates the life politics with ethics,while the latter gets the "humaneness"sublimated to the level of practical significance on the basis of the former.
