Liszt and Schumann both are great composers and performers of Romantic Period.After enjoying the "24 Caprices" played by Paganini,they were shocked,and these pieces kindled both two composers' passion of the transcription of the works.The "24 Caprices",created by Paganini,has raised a huge "music revolution",and it is a classic work that shocks many musicians and is worshiped by them.It is referred as "the violin bible".Liszt and Schumann wanted to transcribe the "24 Caprices" into keyboard instruments field through recomposing,which is a great breakthrough of the piano field."Hunting" is one of the works of the "24 Caprices" of Paganini.Both of Liszt andSchumann adapted the piece "Hunting".This paper makes the comparative study of the piano pieces "Hunting" which were adapted by these two composers.The main body of the paper consists of introduction and four chapters:The introduction includes the significance of topic,research status,innovation and the ideas and methods of research.The first chapter introduces the brief introduction of two composers and their creative features.They live in the same era,but they have different nationalities and life experiences.It provides a wealth of information to the later comparative study of the two piano pieces through the understanding of their experiences.The second chapter analyzes and compares the musical structure of the two piano transcriptions.The piano transcriptions,which are adapted based on the great preservation of the original style of Paganini,also are innovative.The third chapter mainly expounds the creative techniques of the piano transcriptions and makes analysis and comparison from the perspectives of melody,rhythm,harmony,texture for understanding the different styles of the Piano Transcriptions which are adapted from the Paganini's "Hunting" by Liszt and Schumann.The fourth chapter is the comparison of performance techniques of two piano transcriptions.It respectively makes performance analysis and comparison for two piano transcriptions so that the piano works of different composers can be better interpreted in future performance and teaching.
