There were three academies in Yangzhou in Qing Dynasty,namely Meihua Academy,Anding Academy and Guangling Academy,which occupied an important position in the cultural history of Yangzhou.Under the imperial competitive examination in Qing Dynasty,Yangzhou Academy was not only used for imperial examination,but also cultivated many learned scholars.Yangzhou Academy selected excellent students,and the eligible could enter for studying.Besides teaching,the headmaster of the academy also picked up good articles to comment,then had them on the books for the students to learn,daily exercises about articles was a reflection of stereotyped writing in Yangzhou.Comparing the articles exercises with stereotyped writing,there was a certain gap between them,but with a mature view on article exercises,you could further understand the lesson and the true value of article exercises.At the same time,through the analysis on rigorous stereotyped writing,its structural pattern imprisoned the thought of examiners,but under the rigorous laws,the students in academy also has a strong ability of phrasing,from which people could see the prosperity of imperial examination education in Yangzhou.There was a close connection between the article exercises in Yangzhou Academy and the classics exegesis of Yangzhou School,which was another angle of researching article exercises.The article exercises in the academy was written in accordance with the theory of Confucian classics,and the articles was the embodiment of the Confucian thought,the article not only had the explanation for the classics literal meaning,but also the interpretation of its meaning and principles,as well as the understanding of social ethics.Comparing the Confucianism achievement of Yangzhou school with article exercises,was the another aspect of studying article exercises and Confucian classics.The article exercises in academy was mostly stereotyped writing,for its stereotype was not too strong,which provided a lot of space for studying the literariness of articles.The stereotyped writing was a reflection of ancient Chinese culture,viewing from the writing of article exercises,the article exercises had its distinctive literary characteristics.As for poetry examination in Qing Dynasty,Yangzhou Academy not only took study poetry as the key to the exam,but also in order to promote the formation of comprehensive literary qualities,and cultivate all-round talent for the country.To study the poetry in article exercises and explore the form of exam,was conducive to the in-depth study of the imperial examination in Qing Dynasty.When studying the artile exercises in Yangzhou Academy,from the education concept of the headmaster,people also could discover their academic thought,that so much comments was the relevant evaluation of headmaster on article exercises.and checking the evaluation was also important for researching imperial competitive examination,as well as understanding People's thoughts about imperial examination in Yangzhou.The headmaster in Yangzhou Academy started its training from stereotyped writing,and he always attached great importance to Confucian moral culture,so Yangzhou Academy spared no effort to cultivate the students' comprehensive quality,hoping to improve the attainment of students within the scope of meeting imperial examination requirements,which also has been a style of writing in Yangzhou.
