Si Kong And His Poetry Research

Sikong Shu is a famous poet in Dali period, named with the poet Qian Qi, Lu Lun and other poets as "ten talents in Dali Period". There are existing 173 poems created by him, and he is the poet who preserved relatively more poems than other"ten talents in Dali Period". The poems reflect typical characteristics of Dali poem style. Dali poetry is between glorious age of Tang Dynasty and middle Tang Dynasty these two peaks, and becoming the transition bridge of different poetry style. Sikong Shu and other Dali poets led the poetry style transition,and played a special role in the poetry development history. Sikong Shu and the art of his poems are the research object in this dissertation, focusing on the artistic features of his poetry, and make an objective and fair comment on the achievements of his poetry and its influence on aftertime.According to the research results from current literature and modern scholars, this dissertation makes full analysis and summary of Sikong Shu and his lifetime experience, and making in-depth study on controversial issues and also complements the evidence. The analysis focuses on the creation of poetry and artistic features. His poetry contents can be divided into four themes as reward,farewell,chanting,and expressing emotions. Although the content of the poem is abundant, it is limited to personal life and is not widely open enough. His poetry shows general characteristics of gentle and idle style. The language is clear and fluent. He prefers fresh style of"green" and "white" colors,choosing plain sentences and use a large number of line drawing techniques. Sincere affection and euphemistic expression are main features of Sikong Shu's poetry. He can express dismal feelings very penetrating. Most of the images from his poetry are light and cold,and the image structure is carefree and cheerful, formed the artistic characteristics of the bleak plain. The poetry of Sikong Shu has achieved a high artistic level. He is good at sentence-making and creating environment,and expressing lyrical emotions very deeply. In a word,his poetry has a big influence on later ages, and he has an important position in the "ten talents in Dali Period".
