Ningshougong Garden,AKA Qianlong Garden,is an amusement place established by Emperor Qianlong for himself after stepping down from the throne.The designs,the layouts,the ornaments and also the display of goods are all determined and approved by EmperorQianlong,therefore,the garden is a demonstration of Emperor Qianlong's personal taste in art.This dissertation takes the theme of the Qianlong Garden as the research subject,which is the theme of “pines,bamboos and plums”,aims to collect and catalog the images of these three manifested in the Qianlong Garden,to analyze the reasons that why these three particular plants are widely applied in the Qianlong Garden.This dissertation consists of four chapters.First chapter: state the dissertation's meaning and the general condition of the studies involved.Second chapter: collect and catalog all the images of pines,bamboos and plums in the Qianlong Garden to demonstrate that these three images are particularly widely used in planting,decoration and displays.Third chapter: combine the traditional cultural meanings of pines,bamboos and plums with individual architecture,to clarify the ideology of traditional Chinese literati that expressed by Emperor Qianlong.Fourth chapter: analyze the root reasons that why Emperor Qianlong applied the images of pines,bamboos and plums in this special garden.
