Research On The Artistic Expression Techniques Of Nirvana In Cave 158 Of Mogao Grottoes

The 158th Cave of Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes was established in the Tang Dynasty in the Tubo's controlling period.In the early days of Tubo's,although rulers accepted the local Buddhist beliefs in Dunhuang,the cave statues remained sluggish or even stagnant.There were mainly small caves.In the late period of the Tubo's rule,in addition to continuing to fill the Tang Dynasty caves,the Mogao Grottoes began to build large and medium-sized caves.Typical features of appearance and styles of Tubo's rule formed including the form of the cave,the composition of the frescoes,the subject matters and so on.At this period,the rulers advocated communicating with Tang and supporting Buddhism.And these acts directly affected the activities of constructing Mogao Grottoes.Six years later,Tang and Tubo had a very important alliance.In a long period of time,they quelled the war and restore the friendly relations.The exchanges between the people of Dunhuang and the Central Plains made greater progress after this alliance.Buddhism in Tubo local got a comprehensive development.And the 158th cave was dug in this period.The Nirvana by the map is also drawn at this time.Although in the late Tang Dynasty fresco arts in Dunhuang began to slump,Nirvana by the map of the 158th Cave in this period was.It is a masterpiece with the main Buddha sculpture and mural combination of performance Nirvana.It remained majestic atmosphere of mural in the Tang Dynasty.The 158th Cave of the Mogao Grottoes is a rare large-scale cave with the theme of Sakyamuni Nirvana.This article is mainly to study the art of the Nirvana in cave murals.This paper analyzes the historical sources of the picture,Nirvana thoughts,performance characteristics,characters analysis and the extraction of the Mogao Grottoes and Xinjiang Kizil Grottoes representative of cave Nirvana pictures.It do comparative analysis with performance techniques of the 158th Cave Nirvana pictures.It researches the Nirvana figure in the figure modeling,picture composition and lines with the color of these aspects.It provides a valuable source of nutrition of my future professional creation.This paper is divided into six parts:introduction,first,second,third,fourth chapters and conclusion.The first part is the introduction.First of all,it analyzesthe purpose and significance of the proposal,domestic and international literature review and research methods and innovative points of the research proposal.The first chapter discusses the historical background of the 158th Cave and this chapter is divided into two sections.And the first section mainly studies the 158th Grottoes Cave's background.The second section is a simple analysis of the internal structure of the cave.It explains the Nirvana thought conveyed by the cave and different characters related to Nirvana thought and so on.The second chapter is the analysis of the artistic expression techniques and related problems of the 158th Cave of Mogao Grottoes.It is divided into three sections.The first section analyzes the image arrangement of the Nirvana picture,including its relationship between the opening and closing of objects,the relationship between static and dynamic objects,overlapping spatial relations.The second part is the analysisof the figure and the color of the lines of this picture.And the third part analyzes the modeling of the figuresof the picture.The third chapter is the comparative analysis of the artistic techniques of Nirvana figures in the Kokoguo Grottoes,the Kizil Caves and in the 158th Cave.The third chapter is divided into four sections.The first section is the comparison and analysis of the scale and content of the Nirvana caves.The second section is a comparative analysis of the composition of the caves.The third section is a comparative analysis of lines and color.The fourth section is a comparative analysis of characters and their psychological status.The fourth chapter is my research and analysis of the Nirvana in the 158th Cave,which is divided into three sections.The first section is about the meaning of the characters.The second section is the enlightenment of the composition.The third section is the reference meaning of its color.The sixth part is the conclusion.It summarizes the research on the technique of Nirvana pictures in the 158th cave.
