Facing new born totalitarianism,Hannah Arendt tried to understand what happened.During this process,she realized that the relationship between politics and philosophy has been a problem since ancient Greece.Since that time,the tradition of "contemplative life" represented by philosophy should be higher than the tradition of "active life" represented by politics.The philosophers made this conclusion because they believed that only “contemplative life” is self-sufficiency and its purpose is embodied in its own activities.It is precisely because of this tradition of contempt that it leaves a hidden danger for today's politics.Through reflection on this series of issues,Arendt put forward new insights into the traditional relationship between politics and philosophy,that is,active life and meditation life.She believes that philosophy should not dominate politics,and that active life should not be an affiliation of meditation.Therefore,political philosophy should be some kind of thinking about what politics is.By critique of contemplation's priority and critique of indifferent actions,Arendt believes that political needs to be restarted,and that this beginning ability is embodied in action--a basic human ability.The concept of "action" is the core of Arendt's theory.It is the only self-sufficient activity in active life,that is,labor,work,and action.It is not only an actor who manifests his own activities,but also is the only one that can embody people themselves.The natality and pluralism of actions provide guarantees for their continuous ability to begin.The public domain provides a stable space for action.And forgiveness and commitment provide a certain margin and limit to the action.Arendt's theory of action attempts to find a new fulcrum for the human world establish a new theory of political philosophy,and try to ease the tense relationship between philosophy and politics.Although Arendt showed us how to think about the action itself,she said almost nothing about how to act.Then,how to act has become a new issue.At the same time,it is also a question of this article.
