| A 7.8 magnitude quake rocked in Lancang County,Yunnan Province in 1988.The earthquake was centered at a village called Zhanma Slope.The relevant researchers found that the suicide rate of this village was ten times the national average,but the relevant researches stopped in 2001.The author found that the present suicide rate of this village is below the national average.The relevant research datas and results of the thesis come from author’s twice field investigation,a series of methodology like field observations,questionnaires and depth interviews has been applied.The thesis will use the social collision,Durkheim’s theory of suicide classification and the torsion theory to explore the causes of the decline of suicide rate of Zhanma Slope from several dimensions such as the living standards of the villagers,the development of education,the changing views on marriage and love,and the changing of religious belief.The study found that suicide rate of Zhanma Slope has declined from 292.2 per100,000 people in 2000 to 22.4 per 100,000 people in 2013.The conclusions were drawn from the relevant methodology of Sociology: Firstly,the lack of the ancient faith and the rise of atheism and superstition have certain effects on the decline of the suicide rate;Secondly,the changing views on marriage and love,the changing views on divorce,the increase of love age,the decline of the frustration in love and the young going out as migrant workers,all of these factors have some bearing on the suicide rate.More importantly,the development of economy,the growth of the living standard and the universal basic schooling play a critically important role in the decline of suicide rate.At the same time,the moving of public graveyards,the neglect of the poisonous weeds of dying for love,these changes make it possible to cut down the suicide rate.At last,the research attempt to draw implications from the case of the suicide rate of Zhanma Slope to explore the possibility of Chinese countryside’s suicide prevention. |
