A New Model Of Urban Diplomacy In The Context Of The “Belt And Road”

As China's top-level design in diplomacy,the Belt and Road Initiative aims to set up all-dimensional,multi-tiered and composite connectivity networks.As cities are the centers of economic resources factors,the Belt and Road is a “city network” connected by joint cities along the Belt and Road.This paper studies on the city diplomacy on the background of the Belt and Road,and finds out that the Belt and Road brings an opportunity for Chinese cities to implement more active open strategies,which will bring city diplomacy more motives,broaden the way of foreign exchange and make city diplomacy an essential part in country's overall diplomacy.Besides Introduction and Conclusion,this paper is divided into five chapters,Chapter one describes the theory basis of city actors and city diplomacy;Chapter two analyzes the impact on motives of city diplomacy from aspects of city,country and the world;Chapter three analyzes the participations of city diplomacy in the Belt and Road;Chapter four analyzes the interrelationship between city diplomacy and country's overall diplomacy on the background of the Belt and Road;Chapter five makes example research on representative city Urumqi;Conclusion puts forwards with some models for Chinese cities engaging in the Belt and Road,and gives some thoughts to city diplomacy on how to better engage in the Initiative.
