The Cult Organization "Hua Zang Zong Men" Research

In 2015,The First Intermediate People's Court in Zhuhai heard the case of a cult organization--"Hua Zang Zong Men",which caused great public attention again regarding cult organizations' criminal activities.In the light of media's penetrating report,it has been revealed that in the past four years,the organization expanded by recruiting as many as more than 500 members in Zhuhai and Wu,the leader of the cult,obtained an amount of five million illegal income by advertising so-called "medicine of health-keeping" and "practical activities of Buddhism".As a matter of fact,based on police's record,Wu was once sentenced into jail for organizing cult activities as early as in 2000.The research hereby focuses on an investigation on related cases in Zhuhai to explore how the leader of the cult for another time launched his criminal activities of organizing "Hua Zang Zong Men" in Zhuhai,Guangdong Province and why commons would again be trapped in the frauds.Considering economic and social development in China nowadays,author employs "social disorganization theory" in sociology in combination with a local investigation to elaborate the research of the subject.To understand Wu's methods of doing criminal activities in depth,the author firstly selects Zhuhai,Guangdong Province as the area of the research,with help of local police,reviewing relevant materials of "Hua Zang Zong Men" 's development and interviewing police staff who had participated in the detection of the case;secondly,to understand the degree of disorganization in different communities in Gongbei subdistrict in Zhuhai and the relations between social disorganization and commons' belief in cult,the author spreads a survey in local households;thirdly,to give insight into the reasons behind "Hua Zang Zong Men" 's rise,the author refers to a collection of literature work about cult and cult organization both domestically and internationally;lastly,by classifying and analyzing the materials about "Hua Zang Zong Men",the research proposes suggestions to eliminate cult criminal activities and to protect commons from cult frauds.Regarding structural organization,the dissertation based on the research above is divided into four parts: the first part as general introduction,introduces origins of cult issues,together with a background of Chinese cult organization research literatures between 1980-2015,theoretical perspectives,research strategies and methods;part two as a review of "Hua Zang Zong Men",introduces two main periods of Wu,the leader of the cult,how he established and developed the organization,characteristics of its operations and believers,and an analysis of its nature;part three as an analysis of the reasons of the cult's rise in Zhuhai,includes analysis from multiple perspectives such as situation and social atmosphere of the subdistrict where the cult spread,how the believers had been trapped in frauds and a practical analysis into the relations between social disorganization and commons' believe in the cult;part four as conclusions and suggestions,highlights strategies to prevent and punish cult criminal activities in terms of legislation,PSB detections and local communities' prevention.
