| World rowing techniques differ from one to another and there is no one single rowing techniquewhich can be claimed to be the standard. By literature review and expert interviews, this papersummarized the four predominant world rowing techniques?pointing out the classifying items,timing of peak power output, trauma risks and applications of techniques under differentconditions, the development of each technique with the purpose of updating Chinese rowingcoaches' techniques concept and providing them with necessary theoretical basis and measuresbackup for appropriate rowing technical systems. According to studies,the timing of powerapplication and the power emphasis are the main indexes of distinguishing rowing styles, andhave a great impact on the propelling efficiency; rowing styles are not seperate from each other.The timing and emphasis are connected and different.With weak back,DDR and Rosenbergstyles can result in chronic back muscle fatigue and injury, while Adam and Grinko's styles canresult in knee injury, and meanwhile, bring acute back injury.Different rowing styles differ in thepeak power of a stroke in the drive phase. Adam and Grinko's styles tend to win the upper handwith big boats and tail wind, while DDR and Rosenberg tend to win the upper hand with smallboats and headwind.Nowadays,owing to the influence of biomechanics, Rosenberg and DDRstyles are getting closer to Adam and Grinko's styles; part of Adam's style are inheritated;Grinko's style becomes the mainstream. All styles apply to the mirror effect, and it is necessaryto follow this law to obtain specific dynamic structure.The results were as following:1. The international rowing world exist four big mainstream technological style, respectively isAdam, the former east Germany, rosenberg and green ko technology style.
