In 2001 China began to implement a new round of curriculum reform which provides a new platform and opportunity for the comprehensive and healthy development of the students, as well as for the individual teacher's professional development.In recent years,the construction of the teachers' team in our country has achieved remarkable achievements.However for a long time,people affected by the traditional views of urban education is more important than the rural education.In rural areas, especially in remote areas, teachers' professional development has not been paid enough attention to.There is a big gap between the urban areas and the rural areas.The rural education development has always been the key to the development of the whole education system.The State Council and the government of China introduced the relevant policies in order to ensure the development of rural education and to promote the construction of rural teachers.It is worth noting that schools in remote mountainous district mainly are small schools,these small schools have a unique resource allocation and living environment,which result in different problems of the teachers' professional development.We should strengthen the construction of the rural teachers' staff,at the same time we can not ignore the teachers in the small schools.We should put them as different research object from other teachers.It's necessary to focus on summarizing the existed problems and the countermeasures of the teachers' professional development in the small schools.Then we can improve the quality of education in rural areas which has a profound practical significance.This research mainly adopted the method of questionnaire and the qualitative research methods which show special charm in social science research.By consulting a big amount of materials in domestic and overseas,teachers' teaching ideas,professional knowledge and ability are considered as teachers' specialized quality.This study takes district Licheng of Jinan city as an example,and selects fifty teachers of small schools as the research object to explore the current status of the professional development of teachers in small schools.Affected by the unique geographical location and resource allocation,the teachers in the small schools show many deficiencies in their professional development,such as lacking of professional ideas,the knowledge structure sole,the lack of teaching ability and so on.The influencing factors are from all aspects,one of the main factors is the shortage of the education funding and the environment for the teachers' professional development is relatively poor,the teachers training is paying too much attention to format, etc.In view of these problems and factors,we should put forward some ways to improve the situation,for example, balancing the resources allocation of the rural education,releasing policies that favor the rural areas,developing the school-based teaching and research activities,and so on.By taking these measures to improve the professional development of the teachers in the small schools of the rural areas and then to promote the healthy development of the education in rural areas.
