Regeneration And Identity: A Study Of The Changes In The Living Habits Of The Hui Ethnic Group In Henan Province, Shanghai

Nation always changes itself along with the development of the society.Due to a variety of external environment and internal factors,some of nation's ethnic customs will always change or loss.Of course,some ethnic habits can always maintain itself,too.Since modern times,the society progress,the transportation become more convenient,the communication between the region and region become more fast.Some of the Hui nationality's habits had different degrees of loss because of various factors that under its originally living environment.But when these Hui nationality come to another new living area,these lost national habits can rebirth due to some other factors.This study aims at the perspective of sociology.and due to the reason such as that the hui ethnic community which move to big cities come into contact with different culture caused the loss of national habit phenomenon become more severe".Make the Henan hui group in Shanghai as the research object,to elaborated on the phenomenon that the rebirth of national habits of the Henan hui group in Shanghai.And attempts to explore the influence factors of the migration of Shanghai hui people's national habits.At the same time,try to further discuss the hui ethnic custom relationship between regeneration with its own national identity.And then,through the study of the above questions and discussion,to provide some academic value and practical significance data,opinions and perspectives,for the minoritiessuch as the hui ethnic in our contemporary country appear similar phenomenon on the evolution of the national habits.This paper is divided into five parts: The first chapter is the prolegomena,include the study of selected topic background,research significance,research methods and research ideas,etc.Then reviewed current literature from five aspects,"changes on habits and cultural about the hui ethnic living in traditional neighborhoods" ? "changes on habits and cultural about the dispersed and mixed Hui people" ? "immigrant ethnic minorities" ? "the changes of ethnic customs and influencing factors" ? "national identity" and "social support".The second chapter summarized the lost of Henan hui ethnic customs in Henan;Then summarized the regeneration of Henan hui ethnic customs in Shanghai;The third chapter analyses and discusses the influencing factors about the phenomenon of immigration hui ethnic custom regeneration;The fourth chapter discussed about the relation between immigration hui ethnic habits of regeneration andnational identity;Chapter five as a conclusion,discussed the relationship between culture and national consciousness and the relationship between social economic environment and national consciousness,then made a self analysis on the limitations of the study.Through the investigation and discussion,this study draws the research conclusion as follows:First of all,national custom in the traditional ethnic district hui group presented a obvious loss status,most severe loss of custom is eating habits,such as ban smoking and drinking;The second is the loss of the hui women's habit of wearing;Other ethnic customs also had varying degrees of erosion phenomenon,such as ban eating pork,worship and celebrate the major festivals,etc.A large proportion of national habit of Shanghai Henan hui group has presented a obvious phenomenon of regeneration.And once the phenomenon appear,the regenerate national habits were not concentrated in one or a few habits,the regeneration of eating habits and lifestyle are consistent.Secondly,the cultural environment can affects the social behavior of the individual and self-consciousness to a great extent.That is to say,personal understanding of autonomous mainly in the form of social interaction with others.So is the national consciousness.In different cultural environments,such as the Hui iving in a traditional and the Hui living in a big city,can generate different social behavior,and produce different form sense of self.Moreover,from the social and economic level,in particular social economic environment,also can make the national consciousness changes accordingly.Individual in a strange social and economic environment need social support,need a platform to exchange social resources.Immigration Hui in the early move to the big city,their social resources is relatively small,social demand such as the emotional loneliness,economic demand,help in life is difficult to satisfy.But the label "Hui" can make immigration Hui get together,and also is a fast way to join a group,a way to better adapt to the city life.
