Research On The Social Responsibility Information Disclosure Of The BYD Company Limited

With the rapid development of the economy, at the same time enterprises improve their competitiveness, they began to pay more attention to social responsibility. Social responsibility report and the annual financial statements of enterprises have become an important part of the enterprise's external reporting , occupying an increasingly important role in the information disclosure system. Automobile manufacturing industry,as one of the pillar industries of the national economy, undertakes social responsibility not only in the internal business management, product development, innovation and development, staff care , energy saving etc., but also in the establishment of a comprehensive and effective CSR management system, regular external reporting on social responsibility, information disclosure which fulfills social responsibility, and other positive measures, which are the inevitable requirement to respond to the current advocacy of sustainable development policy. With the continuous progress of the economic society , enterprises should be responsible not only for economic stakeholders , but also for nature and society , and undertake their own social responsibility.This paper adopted mainly three research methods which are literature research,case analysis and field research to do a case study on social responsibility information disclosure in the single automobile manufacturing enterprise BYD Company Limited.Based on the concept of social responsibility information disclosure and relying on three theories related to social responsibility which are Stakeholder Theory, Social Contract Theory and Sustainable Development Theory, this paper analyzes the current situation of social responsibility information disclosure in BYD Company Limited. After the research , this paper puts forward several problems in the social responsibility information disclosure of BYD Company Limited, such as the inability of the disclosed information to meet consumer demand, the selectiveness of information disclosure,and the inauthenticity and incompletion of information disclosure in environment aspects.This paper is divided into four parts. The first part is the introduction including the research background, the purposes and significance of the research on corporate social responsibility information disclosure, and the research methods and ideas of this paper.The second part is a case description. The company profile and social responsibility report disclosure of BYD Company Limited will be presented , and the existing problems will be reflected through three typical cases. The third part is the case analysis.Through three main theories related to social responsibility information disclosure, this paper analyzes the problems in the social responsibility information disclosure of BYD Company Limited as well as the reasons for the problems. Finally, in the fourth part the improvement proposals are given. Due to the differences between BYD Company Limited and other enterprises, the outstanding advantages of BYD Company Limited in social responsibility cannot represent the progress of the whole industry. However, the weakness it reflected is what the entire automotive industry needs to improve.
