Research On The Impact Of Board Diversity On Commercial Banks' Risk

As the core of the corporate governance mechanism,the board of directors is responsible for allocating resources for the company's strategy,providing creative thinking and establishing contacts with the outside world.On the Board of Directors ofCommercial Banks With the risk,most of the research focused on the size of the board of directors,the structure of board of directors,the number of meetings and so on,but rarely related to the background characteristics of the board of directors of commercial banks.Diversity as a new entry point for studying the background characteristics of the board of directors,combined the team's teamwork effect and resource effect,and the commercial banks involved in a wide range of business,so it also needs a variety of directors to make decisions.This paper studies the impact of the risk on commercial banks from the perspective of the diversity of the board of directors.This paper first reviews the relevant literature at home and abroad,and then based on the theory of resource dependence,high-level echelon theory and agent theory,combined with the non-equilibrium panel data of 16 listed commercial banks in China from 2006 to 2015,this paper validates the diversity of board of directors on the risk of commercial banks Bear the impact.The empirical results show that:firstly,the diversity of the educational background of the board of directors has a significant negative effect on the risk of the listed banks,that is,it can reduce the risk of listed banks;secondly,the influence of the diversity of professional background of the board on the risk of the listed banks is not significant;Third,the diversity of the nationality of the board of directors has a significant positive effect on the risk of listed banks,that is,it can increase the risk of the listed banks.
