City is not naturally formed. It is the product of social development to a certain stage,is a certain size of the non-agricultural population gathering,as well as a regional political, economic and cultural center. With wave of economic globalization sweeping the world, the city's unique strong gathering capacity, radiation and driving ability to make the city to become the world's most dynamic economic growth and potential hot spots.By the end of 2013,China's urbanization rate reached 53.73%,close to the world average.Urbanization also brings problems such as occupation of cultivated land and urbanization. How to deal with the relationship between city and resources under the premise of the new urbanization has become the focus of the study of many experts and scholars. The traditional use of statistical data and remote sensing images of urban expansion analysis is difficult to timely reflect the spatial-temporal evolution and spatial pattern of small defects.DMSP / OLS nighttime light data can obtain the nighttime light image information such as city, township and other places with long lasting light source. It has the advantages of large spatial pattern and easy access to data, but its spatial resolution of 1km is inevitable in the extraction of urban land Contains mixed pixels.Based on the data of Shandong Province in 2000,2006 and 2013,the Landsat remote sensing image data and DMSP / OLS nighttime light data were used to extract the information of urban land use,and the characteristics of urban spatial form expansion in Shandong Province were analyzed by multi-index.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)Utilizing Landsat remote sensing image as auxiliary data to extract urban land information is effective. Not only can solve the DMSP / OLS night light data with only 1km resolution to extract the mixed pixel in the urban land information, but also can be used as spatial data to verify the statistical data,to correct the statistical data due to human and other reasons caused by the error.Which lay the foundation for the study of urban expansion for long time series and large spatial pattern.(2)City expansion differences and the development of uncoordinated In Shandong Province. The eastern coastal areas are expanding faster than the western inland areas. There are differences in the form, the eastern coastal areas along the coastline of urban expansion, the shape tends to be complex, and inland cities are more regular expansion of the expansion.Local urban land is faster than urbanization, urban development is not coordinated.(3)The first degree effect of the city in Shandong Province is not obvious.Overall, the power of urban development in Shandong Province is greater than the concentration of concentrated power, the size of the city is not very different.Jinan and Qingdao with the vice provincial city, similar in size, are not obvious at the first degree. In the Shandong Peninsula city group,Jinan metropolitan area and Qingdao metropolitan area are regional core. The two functions of the positioning and radiation range are different, regional cooperation should be strengthened to promote the coordinated development of the city in Shandong Province.
