The aim of our country advocate to expanding the middle-income group is not only to increase the number of that group, but also to establish a robust backbone that can guarantee the social stability and the economic growth. The word "middle-income group" in essence refers to those with stable and superior living conditions after a brief navigation among those main-trend literatures on consumption.By combing the mainstream consumption theory, the family per capita consumption level performs better in analysis than the revenues.Establishing the M-curve using the logarithmic spline estimation method according to the dynamic tracking survey data of Chinese family from the year of 2010 to 2012 by Chinese social science research center of Beijing University,it can be discovered that the proportion of our country's middle-income group has stayed steadily during that 3 years, but the ratio of the upper level income group shows a fall-after-rise trend, and the proportion of the middle-income group based on the traditional perspective of salary is underestimatedFor the proportion of middle-income groups of population changes, from the consumer perspective polarization, use consumption polarization curves(S-curve and the B-curve)and W polarization index and analyze the reasons for changes and the influence of polarization.Found that the polarization of consumption is the cause of change. In three years, downward polarization degree remained basically unchanged, upward polarization degree increases first and then decreases.Compared with the downward polarization, upward polarization degree is more severe, more influence on middle-income groups of the population changes. The W polarization index results show that consumption calculation results is more realistic perspective, the perspective of the degree of polarization of income measure is overestimated.
