At present,China’s economy is in the transition period,the economic growth model is relying on exports and infrastructure construction,to stimulate domestic demand.As an important part of China’s national economy,the catering industry plays an important role in stimulating domestic consumption.After entering the new century Chinese rapid economic development,economic growth driven by the increasing urban population,the Chinese urbanization and migrant floating population based on increased consumption,plays a vital role.Catering industry as the most closely related to the daily consumption of the industry has also been rapid development.Service quality management in the modern catering industry management in a key position,the relationship between the rise and fall of the restaurant success or failure,with good service,customer satisfaction.Good service is reflected in the product quality,production efficiency,customer experience and other aspects,and all this is based on the working conditions of front-line staff.Thus,a good state of staff can ensure product quality,production efficiency,customer experience,etc.,and a good state of staff depends on the incentives of enterprise managers to employees.For a long time,China’s catering industry has been a high rate of employee turnover,employee enthusiasm is low,lack of service awareness.The staff working condition is not good,but the lack of a reasonable incentive mechanism is one of the main reasons,at the same time,managers do not have the scientific and reasonable incentive theory to enterprise employees incentive process.McClelland believes in people’s basic survival needs are met under the premise,there is three of the most important needs,namely the achievement,rights and affinity,plays a vital role in the level of employee achievement needs for the development of enterprises.Achievement need is an internal drive for excellence and success in the light of appropriate goals.McClelland believes that success requires strong people,a strong sense of professionalism,and the ability to work independently to solve problems.In management,providing him with the right environment,he will give full play to his ability.Rights need a strong sense of responsibility,the courage to take the necessary competition,and hope to engage in higher social status work,more willing to influence others.At the same time,McClelland also believes that the need for affinity is the desire of others to receive acceptance,recognition and friendship.Affinity requires strong people,eager to get approval from others,highly obedient to group norms,faithful and reliable.This paper sorts out the main theories of motivation,studies the basic viewpoints of McClelland’s theory of needs,compares them with other theories of motivation,and applies the scope and the limitations of their application.According to the present stage of China’s catering industry background,the characteristics of employees in the catering industry,from K enterprise is worthy of reference for staff motivation in the management experience,analysis of the current stage of the catering industry staff incentive problems.Adopting the method of combining theory with practice,this paper studies the non salary incentive factors of catering staff,that is,their affinity needs,rights needs,achievement needs and so on.The application of McClelland’s needs theory to staff motivation in catering industry is studied.By analyzing the general situation of catering industry,this paper sums up the existing problems of staff motivation in catering industry,and then analyzes the problems presented.Based on McClelland’s theory of needs,this paper proposes incentive measures for employees in catering industry based on achievement needs,rights needs and affinity needs.
