After entering the new century,China civil aviation transportation market is rapidlygrowing at an annual rate higher than the world aviation transportation market.During this period,Chinese airlinesexperienced merger and restructure,which increases the chance that airlines meet in multiple routes.In the previous study of price competition,scholars generally focus on the companies' competition behavior in single market and the impacts of some factors,such as demand,market concentration,market entry and exitand so on.As the airline network continues to expand,we have to consider the multiple market factors which were not taken into account in the single market,such as multimarket contact.With the increase of opportunities that airlines meet in the multiple market,multimarket contact might play an important role in airlines` competition.Therefore this dissertation introduced the concept of multimarket contact,through the multimarket contact theory and empirical analysis,the author will explore whether multimarket contact has important influences on Chinese airlines competition market.As the research on multimarket contact is not perfect in China,this dissertation first summarizes the development history of multimarket contact and multimarket contactstudied in the perspective of industrial economics.Then,this dissertation summarizesrelevantliterature of the multimarket contact'effects on price,the speed of the reaction,the growth rate and demand.Finally,this paper summarizes the measuring methods of the multimarket contact.Based on the relevant literature analysis,this dissertation analyzes the prerequisites of multimarket contact in the theoretical aspects: the observability of deviating from the observability and the coordination within the enterprise.Then the dissertation analyzes whether multimarket contactcan generate mutual forbearance in different market conditions.Lastly,the dissertation analyzes theadjusting function of market concentration and the scope of influence on multimarket contact.Finally,on the basis of the previous two parts,thisdissertation analyzes the results with the empirical data of Chinese air transport market and verifies the four main hypotheses proposed in this dissertation: there is mutual forbearance in the civil aviation transportation market under multimarket contact;with the increasing number of competitors in the route market,the mutual forbearance effect of the multimarket contact is enhanced;the market concentration has negative impacts on the mutual forbearance regulation;and the scope of influence also has negative impacts on the mutual forbearance regulation...
