| With the acceleration of economic globalization and the specialization of international division, countries’ or regions’ different production links have been carried out beyond national boundaries.Besides, the scale of intermediate trade has been widened obviously,so the traditional total-value statistical method which according to the cross-border principles has presented “statistical illusion” and other defects. Therefore, more and more recognition and attention has been paid to the added-value trade statistical method that measuring the domestic value added part of each country by means of the International Input-Output tables. What’s more, since the accession to the World Trade Organization,Chinese manufacturing’s export and import trade have developed rapidly as well, and because processing and assembling trade occupies nearly half of China’s overall trading system,so the current trade statistical method greatly overestimated China’s real trade scale and profits.Based on these, this paper will analyze the trade scale and competitiveness of Chinese manufacturing under the perspective of value added trade.First of all, with the help of International Input-Output method,we remeasure the export and import added-value trade scale of China,America,Japan,European Union,Korea,Australia,Brazil,India,Russia and Mexico from manufacturing industry wholly and different technology levels two aspects, and we compare these results with the total-value statistical method’s figures as well. And then,we make use of Trade Competitive Index to recalculate the actual competitiveness of Chinese manufacturing industry based on the added-value trade perspective. What’s more,in order to further explore the effect of various factors influencing the competitiveness of Chinese manufacturing trade,we select labor endowment, capital endowment, economic scale, technology, foreign investment and real effective exchange rate six indicators for the multiple regression analysis. The results show that: firstly, the import and export scale of Chinese manufacturing under the added-value trade statistics method are both far below the scale under the traditional total-value trade statistics method. As the same time,Chinese manufacturing is still occupied the dominant position by low and low-middle two technology levels.Secondly,Chinese manufacturing added-value trade competitiveness presents a trend that increasing continuously and then weakening momently and then return to increasing steadily again.Besides, low and low-middle technology manufacturing are highly competitive while middle-high technology manufacturing is weak relatively.Thirdly, expect labor factor plays an important role in promoting Chinese manufacturing added-value trade competitiveness, none of capital, economic scale, technology, foreign investment and the real effective exchange rate factors has a positive effect, and even to some extent hinders the further enhancement of competitiveness. Therefore, this paper puts forward some suggestions on improving the international trade statistics method, stimulating the potential of production factors, increasing the investment in technology research and development, promoting the upgrading of manufacturing industrial structure, attracting high quality foreign investment and stabilizing the exchange rate system. |
