Explore The Authorization Behavior Of APP Users Based On The Theory Of Uncertainty Reduction

In the era of mobile Internet,mobile applications as the most mainstream product shape is influencing people's lives,There is fierce competition among application developers,Application developers hope to get more information about the user to provide better service,The app will request the user to authorize before collectting some information in the process of users open or use the app,but due to the frequent privacy information leakage issues in recent years,the user pay more attention to their personal information in mobile applications and their authorization decision is becoming more and more cautious,some permission request interfaces without reasonable design will cause users to be uncomfortable and unwilling to authorize.Therefore,application developers are eager to find a reasonable way to request permission to increase the user's authorization intention without reducing their authorization comfort.Previous researchs for information privacy and application authorization found that perceived uncertainty is one of the important factors that makes it difficult for users to make privacy decisions,but few studies have discussed how to reduce the uncertainty;In addition,previous researchs of information privacy have generally been on the level of interpretation and prediction,always lack of specific practical guidance,so this study is based on the European Union and the information Privacy scholars call for "Privacy by the Design",combined with the principal-agent theory,from the perspective of uncertainty reduction,identify the trust and transparency as two important causes of the uncertainty,and according to uncertainty reduction theory,situational information cues is important factors to reduce uncertainty,thus This study designed three situational cues from the aspect of trust and transparency,based on previous researchs on initial trust and information transparency.the three cues is permission relevance,permission explaination and third-party certification.Among them,the permission relevance is an important contextual cue,which is more important than the information sensitivity emphasized in previous privacy studies to highlight the characteristics of situation-specific privacy.This research was conducted in a method of context-based survey,we designed six different authorization situation and carried out a questionnaire survey respectively.316 valid questionnaires were collected,and we use two statistical analysis software SmartPLS2.0 and SPSS to test the effectiveness of questionnaire and research model.The results show that reducting uncertainty in the authorization situation can effectively increase the user's authorization intention while increasing the comfort level about the authorization process.The permission relevance,permission explaination and third-party certification can reduce users' perceived uncertainty to varying degrees.The higher the the perceived relevance,the lower the user perceived uncertainty;In addition,when the situation existing explanation of the permission request or third party certification authority,the user perceived uncertainty will reduce accordingly,correlation and permissions relevance as more important situational factors will moderate the effect of permission explaination and third-party certification on perception of uncertainty,when the higher of perceived relevance,the effect of permission explaination and third-party certification on perception of uncertainty will be reduced accordingly.The main innovation of the research are:(1)discuss information privacy issues from a design perspective,so as to make the research conclusions have better practical guidance;(2)research emphasizes the role of permissions relevance and studies information privacy in a specific situation;(3)extend the theory of uncertainty reduction into the information privacy research to provide a new perspective for the study of information privacy in combination with the principal-agent theory.The research has important practical guidance,and the research conclusion has important reference significance to the APP developer's to design authorization interface and mobile user's to their authorization decision.
