The Social Licence Operation Of The Nuclear Power Enterprise

Nuclear as a substitution and complement for the traditional energy sources has on the one hand been widely applied among numerous countries,and on the other hand has aroused deep fears from the public mind for the sake of its disastrous consequences.Yet today,the principal part which weigh the risks and benefits of nuclear energy is not only policy makers and so-called expert system rather than the public as the risk-takers who participate in social life which related to their own in their own manners.Various of anti-nuclear events and mass disturbances have urged us to be conscious of that the important point here is the public perception of nuclear risks and acceptance for nuclear power industry for nuclear power development.This paper investigates the public acceptance for nuclear power industry and shows that whether acceptance or not is related to the weighing of risks and benefits.Besides,from the perspective of nuclear power enterprise,the only index of SLO(social license to operation)for nuclear power industry is the public acceptance.This paper combines and analyses the public acceptance for nuclear power industry and SLO of nuclear power enterprise on the basis of the analysis framework on SLO by Zhang and Moffat.This investigation suggests that the confidence of management,fair distribution of interests and procedural justice have significant influence on public trust to nuclear power industry,and each dimensions’ influence on SLO is based on specific social contexts.
