The Genetic Relationship Study On Pteris Fauriei Complex

Pteris fauriei complex belongs to Pteris(Pteridaceae),including P.fauriei,P.fauriei var.minor,P.fauriei var.chinensis,P.angustipinnula,P.majestica,P.splendida,P.obtusiloba,P.guizhouensis and so on.Differences between members of this complex were studied based on spore morphology,leaf epidermis morphology and molecular biology.And the genetic relationships among them were analyzed,too.Results are as follows:The spore morphology of Pteris fauriei complex was observed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).Results show that members of this complex can be divided into four groups according to the differences of spore morphology;the spore morphology is similar between P.fauriei and P.fauriei var.chinensis;the spore morphology of P.angustipinnula is tumor spiny and different from the other members;the spore morphology of P.majestica is different from others because there are both distal ridge and proximal ridge on its spore surface.And it was the first time to be reported that P.splendida has "conjoined spores",which is relative to the spore forming mode.The leaf epidermal morphology of Pteris fauriei complex was also observed by SEM.Results show that only the type of stomatal apparatus has taxonomic value.The main types of stomatal apparatus are the polocytic type and axillocytic type.Three chloroplast fragments atpB,matK and trnL-F of this complex were analyzed by the maximum parsimony(MP)and Bayesian analysis(BI).Results show that P.majestica is far from other members and may be hybrid origin,and has the same ancestor with P.fauriei.P.fauriei and P.fauriei var.chinensis are always in the same clade,suggesting that they are close relationship.Samples of P.fauriei var.minor,P.guizhouensis and P.obtusiloba were not collected.Therefore,their taxonomic positions were not discussed in this paper.In conclusion,P.fauriei and P.fauriei var.chinensis are considered to be one taxon.The taxonomic position of P.angustipinnula is clear,it is a separate species.P.splendida and P.majestica may be hybrid origin.And P.majestica may have a common ancestor with Pteris fauriei.
