The study area, which is a part of Central Asia Orogenic Belt(CAOB),is located at the transition of Junggar Basin and West Junggar Orogenic Belt with SW-NE trend. It has experienced multistage tectonic movement since Paleozoic and formed the complex geological structure.Much research have been done in this area, but the controversies over the structural features and evolutions also exist for the superimposed of deformation, widely distribution of volcanic rocks and low-resolution seismic data. With the deepening of the exploration of petroleum,high-resolution 3D seismic and borehole data of the study area provide us valuable information.Based on structural geology, sedimentology and fault-related-fold theories and fully making use of new 3D seismic data, boreholes and field outcrops,we construct the geometric features of Hala'alat Mountains and Wuxia Thrust Belt. And we also construct the geometric and kinematic models of Xiemisitai Mountains-Heshituoluogai Basin-Hala'alat Mountains-Wuxia Thrust Belt and Kebai Thrust Belt-Wuxia Thrust Belt based on the regional MT and seismic profiles to understand the regional tectonic features and evolutions as follows:1.The area develops multistage unconformities and growth strata, which reveal that the study area experienced multiple stage structural deformation.2.Two thrust nappes, regional detachment in Lower Permian Fengcheng Formation and duplex structure in the Carboniferous develop in the study area. The regional high-angle Darbut Fault may end in the floor-fault of duplex structure.3.Based on the regional MT and seismic profiles, the Xiemisitai Moutains-Heshituoluogai Basin-Hala'alat Mountains-Wuxia Thrust Belt may be a mega-fold-and-thrust belt with the displacement of at least 100km and dating probably at Triassic.4.The Kebai Thrust Belt-Wuxia Thrust Belt may represent as uniform thrust belt, and the Huangyangquan area is probably a flexible connected transition.
