In order to achieve an efficient and green utilization of coal,some related researches about beneficial elements and occurrence status in coal have been made by many scholars at home and abroad.With the increase demand of rare metals in China,puting forward new theoretical research of rare-metal deposits in coal and developing the extraction technology of rare metals is of great significance,which is also of great importance to realize the full utilization of coal resources and for the sustainable development of coal economy.Using theories and methods of coal petrology,mineralogy,petrology and geochemistry of coal and other disciplines such as chemical analysis,X-ray fluorescencespectrometry(XRF),inductivelycoupledplasmamass spectrometry(ICP-MS),X-ray diffraction analysis(XRD),scanning electron microscopy can spectral analysis(SEM-EDX)methods,the paper systematically studied the coal and rock features of in the No.5~#coal including coal and partings,rare element mineral species,distribution,occurrence and correlation,and their material sources were analyzed in combination with sedimentary environment.The results show that the coal from No.5~#of Wujiagou Mine,is of half-bright coal-based,semi-dark coal strip folder structure to thin strips to the main strip;vitrinite coal-based,inertinite followed exinite least.The average vitrinite reflectance of this coal seam is 0.61,so this part of the coal seam is defined as bituminous coal.The major minerals of this coal seamis kaolinite,calcite,pyrite-based,some other minerals such assiderite,quartz,rutile,potassium feldspar can also been found.The No.5~#coal seam of Wujiagou was formed in an environment of higher salinity acidic peat swamp reducing terrestrial facies.The No.5~#coal seam of Wujiagou generally is of low REE,and it is of rich heavy rare earth type.Similar rare earth distribution model is also occurred in coal and partings,which shows a good consistency of coal and partings.The main source of this coal seam is terrigenous debris.Among those rare elements from No.5~#coal seam of Wujiagou,Mo,Zn,Pb were significantly correlated with organic components.Some rare mental elements such as Li,Ga,Zr,Nb,Hf,Th these six elements in coal and waste rock are enriched.Elements such as Li,Zr,Nb,Ta,Hf,Cd,Bi,Th are of highly clustered.Correlation coefficient of these elements is over 0.9.They are good correlated with coal ash and showing a high affinity for inorganic.These elements may be mainly hosted in aluminosilicate minerals.The main source of this coal seam is terrigenous debris.MnO is associated with organic components,it is significantly enriched in coal,and it is higher than the coal floor and partings,indicating that Mn may be mainly in organic component of coal.
