The radiation sand ridges in the South Yellow Sea are located in the offshore of Jiangsu. They are huge in size and unique in shape, which are the most characteristic coastal tidal current sedimentary system along the coast of China. It is necessary to study their formation and evolution because of the unstable topography and complicated hydrodynamic conditions in the radiation shoal region.Along with the economic development of Jiangsu,large-scale harbor engineering and marine engineering expand the land use.As a result, the study on the interaction between the disused Yellow River delta and the radial sand ridges and their evolution process is not only of scientific significance, but also instructive to the practical projects.Although the economy of Jiangsu Province is in a leading position in China, its economic foundation is weak, especially in the coastal area whose economic development level is lower than the entire province average level. In order to achieve the national strategic goal, the Tongzhou bay construction project was formulated. The Tongzhou bay port construction project mainly depends on the Shayao-Lengjiasha reclaiming engineering, which is located in the southern region of the radial sand ridges. Therefore, the influence of the Tongzhou bay construction project on the hydrodynamic and sediment conditions in the surrounding sea and the impact of the radiation shoal on the whole South Yellow Sea has become one of our research subjects. In view of the influence of the northward movement of the Yellow River the on the radial sand ridges, some qualitative analysis has been made.In this paper,a two-dimensional tidal current model is used to validate the results. In this paper, the evolution mechanism of the radiation sand ridges in the South Yellow Sea is analyzed on the basis of previous studies. After that,a large-scale mathematical model of the South Yellow Sea is established to verify and its accuracy is verified.Based on the further construction plan of Tongzhou Bay,a small model of Tongzhou bay construction project is established, and two dimensional tidal current and sediment numerical simulation is carried out.By comparing and analyzing the hydrodynamic force and sediment movement before and after the engineering, the influence of the reclamation project on the tidal current field around the harbor and the radiation sand ridges is obtained, which is used to analyze the feasibility of the Tongzhou Bay reclamation project. At the same time,a regional model of the initial stage of the northward movement of the Yellow River in radiation sand ridges area is established. This model is used to compare the variation of hydrodynamic forces between the early stage and the present stage of the radiation sand ridges, which indicates the influence of the northward movement of the Yellow River on the radiation sand ridges.
