As the earliest developed and most technologically mature navigation and positioning system, the Global Position System(GPS)has played an increasingly important role in modern commercial, military and public services. As the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System has been actively constructed by China, the study of GPS provides a reference for the future development of BeiDou system. The development of GPS receiver with better performance has always been focus of continuous research. At present,GPS software receivers are widely studied and can be used to verify complex algorithms with good flexibility, but its performance is limited by the slow signal processing speed.Meanwhile, the FPGA has abundant hardware resources, the signal processing speed of FPGA can meet the requirements by the GPS.Besides,FPGA has advantages of flexibility and short development cycle. Therefore,it is of great practical significance to conduct research on the FPGA implementation of GPS receiver.Baseband signal processing, which can be divided into signal acquisition and signal tracking part,is an important part of GPS receiver. This thesis gives detailed introduction to the baseband signal processing algorithm, and implements the algorithm in Matlab to verify the feasibility. Then, the design and implementation of baseband signal tracking algorithm based on FPGA is discussed. All modules are implemented in Verilog HDL,and has been verified by Modelsim simulations in Quartus ? environment, the simulation results are consistent with the results in Matlab. The verification of GPS baseband signal tracking and demodulation of navigation data proves the correctness of the thesis work.
